our mission
The Blue Suede Sisters is a group of 21st century drag nuns and a House of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. We celebrate the diversity of the communities we serve, promote social awareness, educate, enlighten, and advocate for those in need of a shoulder to lean on. Our tools are irreverent humor and self expression. And make up… and dresses… and heels… and rubber chickens covered in glitter.

what we do
We use our outrageous appearance as a vehicle to educate the public on safer sex issues, fight for queer rights and visibility, address women’s issues, bring to light the needs of homeless youth, and support other community organizations that share our vision.

the organization
Although the San Francisco House (founded in 1979) is often referred to as the “Mother House”, the Sisters have no central seat of power and no single ruling body. Each House is an autonomous, unique group with its own Habits, culture, and rules. Just as the San Francisco House is a reflection of the culture that surrounds it, so the Blue Suede Sisters is a reflection of its own environment. For more information please visit thesisters.org.
